BPSCG to reenact famous meeting between Margaret Thatcher and John Broome in June 1988

Battersea Power Station Community Group will be staging a demonstration at the gates of the Power Station Kirtling Street on Friday 6th June at 2:30pm to complain about the interminable delays with the current owners REO/Treasury Holdings.

This is the anniversary of 20 years since PM Margaret Thatcher fired a laser gun to signal the start of the John Broome theme park which he claimed would be opened on May 21st 1990 at 2:30pm.

He said "Don't be late or you will miss it".

Now the current owner are talking about 10 to 15 years before it is finished. This is unbelievable when we see development going on all around the site.

We are having look-a-like Thatcher and Broome to recreate the event of 20 years ago with a laser and smoke effects.

We title the event “Back to the Future III”.

John Broome failed to redevelop the building and after 10 years was declared bankrupt

The Hwangs, brothers George and Victor, failed to develop the listed building and after 13 years sold for £400 millions and went back to China never to be heard of again in Battersea.

Treasury Holdings/Real Estates Opportunities have held the Grade II* building for 2 years and inform us that it will be 2011 before we see a plan and 10 – 15 years before the scheme is finished.
